–Revised Q2 Construction Data To Be Published At 1530 GMT
LONDON (MNI) – National Statistics has said there is an arithmetic
error in the headline second quarter construction output data.
The Q2 data published Friday showed construction output would add
0.1 percentage points to Q2 growth in comparison to the estimate
originally used by National Statistics.
National Statistics said UK Q2 construction output rose 2.3% on the
quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis to stand up 0.8% on the year. The
estimate in the initial estimate of Q2 GDP was up just 0.5%.
Now National Statistics is saying this estimate is too high.
“There was an arithmetical error in the final stages of preparation
of the Output in Construction estimates,” it said.
“The impact of the error is to overstate the published headline
Q2/Q1 growth of 2.3 per cent,” it added.
The data will be re-issued at 1530 GMT.
