Politico says Obama will propose a $10 per barrel tax on oil in the budget next week to fund mass transit, high-speed rail and self-driving cars. It would be a surcharge paid by oil companies.
This is pure comedy. Obama has no power; it's just a ploy to fire up dreamy Democratic voters who think this has a chance. It doesn't.
Remember that when Obama had full control of both houses of Congress, he wouldn't even entertain the idea of raising the gas tax.
