NZ data not moving the NZD: April consumer confidence down 5.9% m/m

From New Zealand, ANZ's Consumer Confidence Index for April falls to 120.5, down 5.9% m/m

  • prior +0.2% to 128.0

April result is a 20 month low and is just above its average reading (since series began in 2004). ANZ say that perceptions of current conditions are strong but wariness about futre conditions (what they might be) has weighed.

And further, the bank says consumer confidence levels are consistent with GDP growth in the 2 to 3% range
