A preview of the ANZ business urey from May that'll include confidence.
I posted earlier on the decline this indicator has seen in this post:
With this graph:
For the ANZ survey, comments via BNZ:
- the latest monthly ANZ business survey … will be the first to express full response to the government's 17 April announcement it was ditching its wide-ranging capital gains plans, holus bolus.
- Still, there is a lot else that continues to weigh on the NZ business sector, including cost pressures. So maybe we shouldn't expect too much of a bounce in this May survey (if any)?
Westpac:
- will give us our first gauge of how business confidence has responded to the Government's surprise announcement that it will not be pushing ahead with any form of capital gains tax
- likely to see an improvement in headline confidence
- However, the impact on other components of the survey such as investment intentions is less clear
