NZ card spending retail for April -2.2% vs. 0.0% expected

New Zealand electronic retail card spending fell -2.2% in April, while actual sales rose 0.8% from the same month a year ago. This according to the Statistics New Zealand.

The electronic card data covers about 68% of core retail sales in New Zealand and is the main measure of monthly retail activity

The -2.2% fall is the biggest fall since a -3.3% decline in October 2010.

Not a good number.

The NZDUSD has dipped to new session lows and is moving away from the 100 bar MA on ther 5-minute chart.
