Details of the November 2016 UK Public Sector Borrowing data report 21 December 2016
Prior 4.301bn. Revised to 4.324bn
Ex-Banks 12.647bn vs 12.100bn exp. Prior 4.796bn. Revised to 4.761bn
PSNCR 13.525bn vs -3.413bn prior. Revised to -2.277bn
Central gov NCR 9.8bn vs -4.0bn prior
That's the lowest Nov borrowing since 2011. It comes after last month where the UK coffers got a good boost from VAT and corp taxes. We often see borrowing jump after that event and the lower than expected numbers may reflect some late flow from those. What isn't such good reading is that public sector net debt ex-banks was the highest ever at 1.655tn, or 84.5% of GDP. I'm not sure we'll be seeing that improve anytime soon.
