Tokyo's main index closes lower in a mixed session for Asian stocks
Japanese stocks slipped on the day in mixed trading in Asia Pacific as other major indices in the region from Korea, Singapore to Australia all seeing gains on the day. The Nikkei's slump comes despite the fact that Softbank shares jumped by 17% after the company announced it would mop up around ¥600 billion shares in the group's largest ever buyback.
US equity futures are slightly lower with E-minis down 0.2% currently and I would expect the flat and slightly subdued tones to carry over to the start of European trading as well. USD/JPY sits at 109.96 currently near flat levels on the day as once again, traders continue to flirt with a break of the 110.00 handle.
