Tokyo's main index closes almost flat in a subdued trading day
- Session high 22,753.18
- Session low 22,612.15
A slow-paced day for Japanese stocks with regional equities looking tepid still awaiting further developments in the global trade rhetoric. Although there hasn't been any new talk of US-China trade tensions escalating just yet, sentiment remains fragile still as there is still the possibility Trump may officially announce the additional $200 billion tariffs on China later this week.
Chinese stocks are ignoring most of that though with the Shanghai Composite up by 1.1% to session highs at the moment in what is the odd outlier on an otherwise quiet start to the day. Reckon the PBOC's stronger fix may have something to do with it.
