Risk is starting to turn uglier ahead of European trading
Asian stocks were mostly mixed earlier but are heading lower in the closing stages of the day. Japanese stocks were pressured for the most part by a stronger yen as we begin the new week but Chinese stocks have basically erased their gains in the past hour of trading to fall into negative territory.
This comes as US equity futures are also taking a bit of a dive as we approach the early morning in Europe. The Hang Seng index is now down 0.3%, likewise for the Shanghai Composite index. This will keep further downwards pressure on yen pairs as we get into European trading so be wary of the change in risk here.
Looking ahead, markets will be tuning their focus on US-China trade talks later this week but we'll also be getting a slew of tech earnings from Wall St so maybe that could help to salvage equities sentiment this week.
