Tokyo's main index closes lower on the day, but near the highs

Asian equities are lower for the most part given the declines faced by US stocks overnight. While Japanese stocks have recovered into the close, the same can't be said for the Hang Seng and China's Shanghai Composite. The latter two are near session lows at the moment, down by 1.14% and 0.55% respectively.
