Tokyo's main index ends the day higher in mixed session for Asian equities
- Session high 22,160.83
- Session low 21,994.28
It's a mixed day for equities in the region with Chinese stocks still focusing on the trade rhetoric between US and China and that's weighing on mainland equities on the day. Meanwhile, Japanese stocks are performing better from improved sentiment in Wall Street overnight as well as a weaker yen to start the day.
But all eyes will be on how the US midterm elections pan out over the next 48 hours and that will determine equities sentiment in the coming days. Right now, volumes all around are light so I wouldn't read too much into the moves here. E-minis are trading flat currently as well as markets are facing a bit of a gridlock ahead of the elections.
That means that risk sentiment is likely to remain tepid and cautious so I don't expect much change in the risk currencies as a result of that.
