Tokyo's main index is flat for the day

But the index does close near the highs as Japanese stocks rebound from earlier lows. But the major story still in Asian equities trading is that of Chinese stocks, which is continuing to bleed further on the day. The Shanghai Composite index is now under 2,800 and trades lower by 0.6% after the break.
