Japanese equities post gains but cautious sentiment still prevailing
The Nikkei is closing the day with decent gains but overall equities sentiment remains rather cautious as we begin the new week. The Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite indices are basically flat on the day now as Chinese equities are still looking rather tepid following the negative sentiment from Friday's trading.
As mentioned earlier, the big event to watch out for this week for risk sentiment will be the Fed decision on Wednesday. Other than that, just be alert on more US-China trade headlines that could offer some minor jolts during the week.
USD/JPY holds steady at 113.50 currently, still near the highs but sitting in a 23 pips range so far today. Yen pairs are so far the most active currencies with other major pairs basically still in a coma as we await European traders to enter the fray.
