Nikkei 225 closes higher by 0.50% at 21,556.51

Japanese stocks inch higher as Asian stocks put in a more positive shift

Nikkei 27-02

Risk sentiment in Asia is mildly positive as equities are seen to be more cheerful in reaction to Fed chair Powell's speech overnight in Congress. Powell preached 'patience' with regards to policy-setting and that is giving investors a bit of reason to carry on with decent gains.

That said, overall risk tones remain more subdued with US equity futures trading around flat levels following the sluggish performance seen in Wall St overnight. I would expect that sentiment to carry forward towards European trading in a couple of hours to come. In that light, currencies are likely to stay subdued as well awaiting further direction.
