Tokyo's main index closes higher on the day

Japanese stocks lead the way in Asian trading, while other major bourses are seeing declines for the most part. Chinese stocks are leading losses on the day with the Shanghai Composite and CSI 300 indices both down by 0.7% currently. Meanwhile, the Hang Seng index is down by 0.6% on the day.
