This has been flagged, so tis not new news, but NZ's government is deciding whether to introduce a "national interest" clause to the Overseas Investment Act.
Restrictions have already been introduced (in octo October 2018) on overseas buyers of residential property.
Public consultation on the question of overseas investment in certain sectors of the NZ economy is now underway.
