NZ data to kick off the economic calendar for today
This is the ANZ survey of job advertisements, August 2018
Comes in at +0.6%
- the previous revised to +3.2% from +3.1%
For the y/y, up 5%
If you've been following developments in NZ you'll know the big negative right now is business confidence (dropping sharply). A manifestation of this is seen in hiring intentions (lower). Indeed, ANZ on today's data release:
- job ads trend has slowed "consistent with softer employment intentions" in the business sentiment survey
For now, though, ANZ not too downbeat:
- Job ads data point to a stable labour market
- with the unemployment rate remaining near its current low level
NZD unchanging on the data
