And there I was, just about to post a slightly more upbeat report on the failure of yesterday’s tri-lateral talks between Putin, Merkel and Hollande that failed to reach an agreement but with all parties due to talk again tomorrow by phone
The seriously de-stabilising situation in Ukraine was never going to go away even if other events had recently overshadowed it in the headlines and/or market reasons for volatility/risk-on/risk-off and these talks- and current stalemate- are a sharp reminder that the conflict will continue to cast its shadow.
These are, indeed, very difficult times and the current security conference in Munich will be keenly followed.
