German labour union Verdi says strikes from last week will continue today
On Friday, Verdi called for targeted strikes for some workers from Deutsche Telekom after a second round of wage talks with the company's management stalled. Deutsche Telekom is the largest telecommunications provider in Europe, in terms of revenue.
According to reports, around 5,000 workers across the country are believed to be participating in the protest.
It's not the first time we're hearing of something like this in Germany. In January, workers at Siemens and Daimler were among those to have also gone on strike following a stall in talks on wage offer.
For all the positivity surrounding the country's tightening labour market and the booming economy from last year, you'd think companies should be able to afford loosening the purse strings a little.
