More on German court challenge to ECB bond-buying

I posted to an article on the weekend about a court challenge to ECB bond buys. Some are warning of a euro break-up on the back of the decision. Which is a very extreme, outlier interpretation.

More info yhere at the Wall Street Journal: German Court to Review ECB Bond Buying Program (The Wall Street Journal is often gated, so if you’re unable to access the article try a search of Google news using the headline)

There’s also an ungated article here, at the Washington Post: German Top Court Likely to Extend ‘Yes, But’ Doctrine to ECB

  • “Germany’s top court probably won’t intervene in the European Central Bank’s plan to buy bonds of crisis-torn countries, in line with previous cases involving the country’s integration with the European Union.”
  • A ruling isn’t expected until after German elections in September.
