Monti in demand from all corners

The Italian PM due to step down after the Italian parliament approves the 2013 budget is being wooed by political parties to be an active part of , if not leader, of a future government.

Monti has so far taken a vow of silence on the subject.

“Very important political developments depend on” Mr. Monti’s next move, said Franco Frattini, who served as foreign minister in the conservative government of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Mr. Frattini, who has spoken to Mr. Monti, wants Mr. Monti to lead a center-right alliance of parties.
