May tells backbenchers she will quit once deal passes
Ari Singh, deputy political editor at the the Huffington Post UK reports from an MP who relayed that May told MPs she will hand over the leadership of her party once Brexit is delivered.
This is something she has said before but her quitting to get it over the finish line is the final card she has left to play. At this point she's almost sticking around as a threat in case they don't back her.
Update: There is more confirmation on this now: "I am prepared to leave this job earlier than I intended in order to secure a smooth and orderly Brexit" she told the 1922 Committee of backbench Conservative MPs today.
Now we find out if this is enough to get her deal across the finish line. It looks like the vote is coming on Friday.
Update: The Telegraph reports that another MP says the PM said: "I will step down earlier than I said." No time line was given.
Update: "I know there is a desire for a new approach - and new leadership - in the second phase of the Brexit negotiations - and I won't stand in the way of that."
