May to fight Sturgeon by promoting closer UK union

UK PM May will be addressing the Tory spring conference in Wales

May up and touring the UK and she's due to speak in Wales about forging closer ties within the UK.

Bloomberg report she's going to unveil a "Plan for Britain". In an exert from the speech May will announce that;

"Our plan for Britain will put strengthening and sustaining that union at its heart"

Her conference appearance is coming on the same day that Sturgeons SNP begins a conference too. We've already heard from former leader Salmon this morning, who told the FT that Scotland could abandon the currency union with the UK.

I'm not going to tie May's news entirely in with the rise in the quid but the battle lines are being drawn on the Scottish referendum and the comments will move the quid as we bounce from Sturgeons's threats to May's rebukes. There could be plenty of headline risk around these two meetings.

In the meantime, the UK department for international trade is trying to rally the UK business troops with tv advertising.
