Details from the March 2017 UK Markit/CIPS construction PMI report 4 April 2017
Prior 52.5
Housing index 51.7 vs 52.2 prior
A touch softer than expected and housing activity is slowing to the lowest since last August. The quid took a quick dive to 1.2419 on the headline but quickly bounced to 1.2449, a journey it had started before the data.
It's not all bad news though as the slowdown in housing was offset by a pick up in civil engineering and commercial activity. Prices rise took another pause for breath since the Jan highs also. Employment was strong in March too.
