Bloomberg with a bit scuttlebutt doing the rounds, that Abe Shinzo is considering calling an early general election
Japan had an election just 2 years ago, which makes the current lower house term is until or before October 2021. But there is talk that some of Abe's advisers are canvassing a "double election" (an Upper House election is due on July)
Adds Bloomberg:
- This week the LDP's election strategy chief Akira Amari tried to dismiss the speculation without ruling it out, telling Nippon TV channel BS Nippon there was a 99% likelihood that it won't happen.
