It's only the beginning

Good afternoon all

So here we are on ForexLive 2.0. I've been through the comments so far and so just want to re-assure everyone that this is only the start of the new site and it will be 100 times better than the old site when we have everything running as we want.

As with most tech, you can very rarely launch it with all the bells and whistles in place straight off the bat and expect it run without a hitch so please be aware that this is only the start of sculpting the new site.

One of the main reasons we wanted to launch a new site was our pledge to make ForexLive even better, and it will be. We needed to move from wordpress as we had outgrown and reached the limits of what we could do on that platform. Whilst we managed to get the front end running well the back end has been creaking for sometime making it very difficult for us to do our jobs and get you the news as fast as we could. It was becoming a real problem so we had to bring the new site launch forward for fear of the service going down for an extended period.

Most of the issues that have been raised today are already on our list and will be applied in updates over the coming days. First and foremost we know that getting the headlines out is the number one priority and formats, font sizes and looks are secondary. They are important though and so we have made sure that the site development is fully flexible. Want your headlines in pink font with pretty flowers? We can do that.

When we upgraded the site last time we had many similar comments as we are now and we managed to get everything working back then. It does take some time and we can only ask for your patience while we tinker behind the scenes. You may already notice that there is no refresh button anymore. That's because the site is now "live" and as soon as we publish a post it is on the front page instantly.

Yes we are missing the prices, clocks and other parts that you guys like and we are in the process of developing our own widgets that will blow the others out of the water. In the meantime we will be using third party widgets like before but we need to bring them online slowly so that we can make sure they don't interfere with everything else. Some of the widgets, like the old calendar, had passed their expiry date and were no longer being supported by developers so we've had to change them. Again, we are flexible and if one doesn't work or isn't up to scratch then we'll keep going until we find the ones you and us are happy with.

You guys and girls have stood by ForexLive through thick and thin and we made progress on the old site and will make progress on the new one. I think our track record of listening to you and your views and applying that to your site stands for itself and you can be sure that by the time we're done we'll all be better off for it.

This is just another chapter in the story of ForexLive and we're nowhere near coming to the end of the book. Yes we're going to have a few hiccups along the way, yes things are going to take time, but they will be fixed as they were before.

From all the team, we appreciate everyone of you and thank you for your support and that you come to ForexLive.

Onwards and upwards

If I could ask that you continue to post any comments about the site on Mike's first post then we can keep everything in one place, thank you
