Salvini remains unperturbed by the fact that the European Commission is likely to put pressure on Italy to revise its budget deficit lower in the coming months as economic growth in the country continues to struggle. And this is also part of the battle between the populist government and the more centrist coalition in the European Union ahead of parliamentary elections in May.
