The OMT fulfills a lot of the same roll eurobonds would fill, reducing spreads between countries in EMU. Unfortunately, the lack of spreads between profligate Greece and thrifty Germany is what caused the problem in the first place.
The comments came in an interview with France’s Le Figaro.
