The standoff continues as the Italian government is refusing to cut down on key measures in their budget but wants the commission to approve of their proposal. From the commission's perspective, they're still very much saying to Italy that "you can't have your cake and eat it too".
Expect this rhetoric to carry on over the next few weeks as the commission threatens to launch EDP measures against Italy in due time.
