Weekend news: Weekend Italian politics - attempt to form government fails

The latest is that the Italian President (Sergio Mattarella) will meet with PM-designate Guisepe Conte on Sunday evening.
Italian politics … negotiations continue (I'm gonna keep those four words open and cut and paste into future post on this mess :-D )
There are also reports that the President will meet with former senior director at the International Monetary Fund Carlo Cottarelli for talks on Monday
which may indicate Mattarella may ask Cottarelli to from an interim technocrat government. I dunno how that'd play oput in the parliament though.
