If you don't like politics impinging on FX I have some bad news for you

The impact of politics on financial markets was made starkly clear last week. The AUD fell and rose with leadership jostling in the ruling party.

ForexLive covered it last week, ICYMI.

There were (there always are) other factors at play also, but politics was a biggie.

Anyway, US mid-term elections are coming up in November, which may, or may not, see the US House of Reps flip to a different party majority. This will have implications for Presidential policy … getting it implemented, and also, reports US media, potentially wider-ranging implications:

We'll see how this plays out, the 'if' is a flip of party power in the House.

So, yep, politics is going to come to the fore again. Ignore it if you like, or cheer/spam for your side. Neither will probably help, but whatevs.

Over the weekend:

Sen. John McCain has died.
