House of Lords debate on Brexit delay bill could run into the wee hours of the night

Brexiteers to try various gambits to stretch things out and block it

Brexit

The good news overnight for the pound is that the Cooper/Letwin amendment passed and that the House of Commons also barely passed the bill seeking a delay to Brexit beyond 12 April. But the thing about the bill turning into law is that it still has to go through another vote at the House of Lords.

What seems to be a formality may yet be more tricky and uncertain than expected. There's talk now that Brexiteers are looking to scupper the process and try to make it as difficult as possible for this to pass (The Sun reports it could even go on until 4 a.m. London time).

This may not be over yet, folks. Stay tuned for more on the Brexit saga later in the European afternoon and into the night.
