Another 1,070 deaths reported on the day
It looks like the post-holiday reporting is seeing a 'mean reversion' in the virus trend in Germany, as the case count jumps while deaths surpass 1,000 again. This beats the figure from yesterday and marks the second deadliest day of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, active cases increased slightly to ~323,600 while total deaths across the country increased to 37,607 persons.
In terms of healthcare capacity, there are 5,569 (-109) coronavirus patients requiring intensive care as of yesterday with 4,452 (17%) intensive care units still available.
