Monday typically sees a lower count
The table (⬆) shows the detailed breakdown as of yesterday i.e. 6 December.
The additional 12,332 new cases today is somewhat similar to previous Mondays, where the case count is low due to lesser testing over the weekend.
The total active cases across the country still sits closer to 300,000 as such.
There were another 147 deaths reported and that brings the total tally on that front to 18,919 persons as of the latest update today.
In terms of healthcare capacity, there are 4,108 (+57) coronavirus patients needing intensive care as of yesterday with 5,539 (20%) intensive care beds still available.
As has been the case in the past two weeks, the increase in the death statistic has been particularly worrying and with the case count also not significantly abating just yet, it is tough to imagine any meaningful relaxing of restrictions this month.
