German bund yields move back to familiar territory

10-year bund yields touches a low of 0.498%

As highlighted by Mike earlier here, that's the first time German 10-year government bond yields manage to find its way below 0.50% since early January.

It's one that is a familiar level and a defining level for bund yields, as it sat below the 0.50% level for the most part of 2017. The surge in Treasury yields at the start of this year had a spillover effect in lifting it higher, but since then it's been one-way traffic back down.

US 10-year Treasury yields are also slipping a little, falling below 2.80% yesterday and today. For the time being, the breakdown in the correlation between yields and USD/JPY seems to have stalled - but it's still not time to call a return to "normal" just yet.
