IG Metall is the biggest metal workers union and they are after a 5.5% wage increase for metal and engineering workers next year. They also want better conditions for older part time workers.
German unions are one of the big driving forces of wages in Germany and they won’t sit back and accept a couple of points above inflation. These deals are open to negotiations so it’s not a done deal but it will add some wage inflation to the German pot.
