German intelligence is worried that Russia could interfere with national elections

So says the head of the German domestic intelligence agency via Reuters

He cited the case of Russian media reporting that a Russian woman in Berlin was kidnapped and raped by migrants, which was refuted by the German government, and says that this could happen again next year and "we are alarmed".

He added, "We have the impression that this is part of a hybrid threat that seeks to influence public opinion and decision making processes".

The comments come following similar from Merkel who had said that there were signs of internet attacks and spreading of misinformation from Russia.
