Discussions to centre on tariffs. Prior to leaving Altmaier spoke with German media:
- A trade war "would end up to the detriment of the citizens in both regions"
- Says he'll "represent our European and German interests confidently and in a friendly manner"
- "I want us to continue to produce steel in Germany at competitive prices"
Altmaier is a noob to the position, only just sworn in
