Geithner’s G20 proposal smacks of Europe’s “stability pact”

Geithner put forth an interesting proposal at the G20 meeting whereby the large economies would limit their current account imbalances to 4% of GDP. While this sounds good in theory, the European experience would suggest it wold be difficult to enforce, in practice.
