The Financial Times reports on their annual poll of 80 economists, with a dour view of growth prospects to come this year:
- Uncertainty will hobble UK business investment and depress consumer spending in 2019
- Many said forecasting for 2019 was impossible given the "comprehensive" and "chronic" uncertainty that had become "a way of life" in the UK
- majority of those who ventured a numerical forecast expected growth of no more than 1.5 per cent over the course of 2019
