Ex-economic minister Emmanuel Macron declares he's running for president in 2017
Apparently he wants to "end the emptiness at the heart of French politics".
Hollande meanwhile, has yet to say whether he will go for re-election.
Next year is another big one on the political scene with both France and German going to the polls. Frances comes in two parts between 23rd April and 7th May, while Germany is later, 27th August/ 22nd October.
