Stubb will try to replace Jean-Claude Juncker
Getting Germany's Manfred Weber the top EU job is seen as Angela Merkel's priority in the next round of diplomatic appointments; ahead of getting the ECB post.
However he will have some fresh competition with former Finnish PM Alexander Stubb taking a leave from his job as VP at the European Investment Bank to compete for the job, which will begin in October 2019.
As for his chances. Let's just say... Stubb rubs some people the wrong way and that isn't going to help European unity.
