  • Foreign investors bought the smallest percentage of the recent 30-year Treasury bond auction since February 2016
  • Although they increased participation in recent 10-year and 3-year Treasury sales, the numbers still sit below levels consistently seen through 2015 and the first half of 2016
  • Analysts point to the reduction in Treasury holdings from big foreign holders such as China and Japan putting pressure on others to back away from the Treasury market
