Canada celebrates Victoria Day
As Canada celebrates Vidtoria Day, the economic calendar has the Chicago National Activity index at the bottom of the hour and "Fed-speak" dominating for the rest of the day.
Fed speakers scheduled to talk today include:
- Philly Fed Pres Harker at 9:30 AM ET/1330 GMT
- Vice Chair Clarida and NY Pres. Williams at 1:05 PM/1705 GMT
- Fed Chair Powell speaks at 7 PM ET/2300 GMT. The topic is "Assessing Risks to our Financial System" at the Financial Markets Conference, in Florida.
The speeches give the Fed members the opportunity to express their thoughts on trade tensions and the impact on the growth/inflation going forward.
