Meanwhile, the question for the Fed in the months ahead is whether they will brush aside one-time inflationary items in the same way as they brushed aside one-time deflationary items. Oil and cell phones are going to reverse in PCE inflation with a peak coming around June. The temptation from the Fed will be to say that's genuine inflation but that may prove to be a mistake.
