EU's Weyand reportedly casts doubt on hopes of a Brexit deal being reached within three weeks

According to the Daily Telegraph

The headline says that Sabine Weyand, who is Michel Barnier's deputy, has reportedly "poured cold water" on hopes of a Brexit deal being reached within the next three weeks i.e. 21 November.

Although the UK is hyping up hopes of a deal, you'd very much expect the EU to downplay it so long as there is good reason to. If negotiations are still at a standstill and no solution to the Irish backstop is still seen in sight, expect Barnier and co. to keep optimism to a minimum unless the UK convinces them otherwise.

GBP/USD holds steady despite the headline sitting at 1.2872 now off the highs seen at 1.2920 earlier. EUR/GBP sitting at 0.8833, off the lows at 0.8805 earlier as well.
