EU Brexit negotiator Barnier with a word of warning to colleagues 27 July
- talks on future EU/UK relationship are now less likely to start in October as planned
- lack of progress on Brexit divorce issues so far
The comments come from one of the team of 27 negotiators/ambassadors that he briefed yesterday.
EU officials have also noted that Barnier said progress has been difficult not because UK had unacceptable demands but because it has no idea of its policy on many issues.
Said one EU official:
" The more they drag on the less time is left for second phase and the special relationship"
Come on UK, pull your finger out. This is not clever non-disclosure, just complete ineptitude.
GBPUSD 1.3143 off its 1.3155 highs but unfazed by all this latest rubbish on the negotiation front probably/possibly (who knows?) on the increased chances of a softer Brexit.
EURGBP has reached the 0.8900 target I highlighted earlier, as has EURUSD into 1.1700.
