Eurozone August final consumer confidence -1.9 vs -1.9 prelim

Latest data released by Eurostat - 30 August 2018

  • Economic confidence 111.6 vs 111.9 expected
  • Business climate indicator 1.22 vs 1.26 expected
  • Industrial confidence 5.5 vs 5.5 expected
  • Services confidence 14.7 vs 15.2 expected

Economic confidence falls once again and misses estimate. The July reading was 112.1. That's the eighth consecutive month that economic sentiment has declined for the Eurozone economy.

According to those surveyed, trade tensions between EU and the US and threat of tariffs on autos are cited to have a major effect on sentiment.

Not going to have a direct impact on the euro on the day but certainly one that will feed into overall sentiment towards the Eurozone economy and may dampen economic growth prospects moving forward.
