European stocks end the day mostly lower

The European major stock indices have ended the day mostly lower. The UK FTSE bucked the trend as it ended up 0.27% (or 16.99 points)

The other indices were lower:

  • German DAX was down -70.65 points or 0.69%
  • EUR Stoxx index was down -20.93 points or 0.69%
  • French CAC was down -27.13 points or 0.61%
  • Spanish Ibex was down -63.10 points or 0.71%
  • Italy's FTSE MIB was down -65.79 points or 0.73%

The European 10 year note yields were modestly lower in yield.

  • German yield 0.56%, unchanged
  • France 0.412%, unchanged.
  • Italy 1.393%, -3 BP
  • Spain 1.428%, -3 BP
  • UK 1.254%, -1 BP
  • Greece 7.36% -11 BP

The US stock market at midday has modest gains.

  • S&P index is up 4.66 points or 0.22%
  • NASDAQ composite index is up 8.85 points or 0.18%
  • Dow industrial average is up 54.54 points or 0.3%

US 10 year yield is at 1.700% -1.7 BP on the day. The US will auction 20B (reopening) of 10 year notes at 1PM. The yield at the last auction was 1.71% with a bid to cover of 2.68x.

Crude oil is at $51.09, up 1.5% on the day (taking out the October 2105 highs and trading at the highest level since July 2015)
