European stock market close 31 May 2016
Have we seen the 'Sell in May and go away" saying come to fruition?
It's largely been a positive month for stocks, though Italy has had a month to forget.
FTSE -0.6% day -0.15% month
Cac -0.5% day +1.73% month
Dax -0.7% day +2.23 month
Ibex -0.9% day +0.05% month
FTSE Mib -1.4% day -3.06% month
European bonds
Italy 1.36% -1bp
Spain 1.48% -1bp
Portugal 3.07% flat
Germany 0.142% -2bp
Greece 7.29% +3bp
A reminder also that the ECB start up their corporate bond purchases from tomorrow. We may not get to see how quickly they start into them until next week's QE count but we may get some news from stock market wires. I'm not sure what, if any, affect it will have on the prices of stocks themselves but it's worth bearing in mind.
